HTPC: How would you set this up?

Okay, I have two computers setup right now. One is the server and one is a client. The client is getting used a lot and can bog down the network at times and makes online gameplaying not too good.

The PCs:
-=1=- (Server)
P4 3.2
1.5 Ram
2 PVR 150s
Geforce 6800
160 SATA Hard Drive

-=2=- (Client)
2.4 Northwood Celeron
1G Ram
No TV Tuner
Geforce 6600 GT
300 PATA Hard Drive

#2 Computer is currently in the living room and gets used as a client being served by the bedroom computer. #1 Computer is used for viewing television in my room and also has my storage of divx movies, pictures, music, etc.

Would it be best to keep it the way it is now with the client/server setup? Or would it work good to put one tv tuner in each computer and use them separately, but share both hard drives so they can share resources?

What would you do?

What's your network? There's no way that throwing MPEG2s of a normal size down a 100mbit network should impact your gameplay at all.

We're talking 12.5MB/sec on the network end vs. 2GB/hr (.56MB/sec) on the video end.

Other option, are you using a PVR program that is decoding the MPEG2 file and then uploading the raw AVI to the client vs. the sane way of sending the fully compressed MPEG2 to the client...?

Basically, we need more info. What's your network? What PVR program are you using? You should'nt even notice a performance impact from just one client.

It's on a 100mbit network... I'm probably just being picky, but it increases my pings online and such.

I'm using the Sage Server and Sage Client.

The server is connected to a linksys router which then branches off to a 5 port linksys switch that has the client on the end.

Can't do it... it's too far and we have no cable run that long. Also, it's impossible to run it through our attic from my room to the living room.
