HTPC HELP

Running a gigabyte mobo with hdmi out to a Hitachi rptv about 5 years old, model 57uwx20b, video card is hd 3200. I'm running hdmi to the dvi port on the tv. I get a clear picture with xbmc, but it is washed out, very dull color, I've tried every setting in ati control panel with no luck. could this be a bad hdmi cable? or should i just run straight dvi? When I hook it up to my 24 inch dell the picture is wonderful. I know I need a new tv, but any help appreciated.

I'd try the straight DVI. Assuming you have a DVI cable lying around you've got nothing to lose, so why not try it first? On my older TV that has DVI and no HDMI, I couldn't get the HDMI/DVI cable to work. Straight DVI did.

tried the same hdmi on my dell with a dvi adapter, same screwed up colors, straight vga connection looks fine, so must be the cable.
