im throwing together a myth box, and i want a good, quiet case. im not really interested in it looking like a component, but i do need something under 100 that looks nice and is quiet. any recommendations?

I got my Antec NSK2480 for $50 AR. I think it's usually in the 80-90 range.

I believe silentpcreview has a review of it somewhere, but I can't find it right now.

silverstone..maybe a bit pricey depending on which one you want, but does not disappoint..good size, sexy as hell, one of the taller cases (and believe me, if you want aftermarket heat sink options, they are few and far between) a silverstone sm-20 like mine will barely take a thermaltake typhoon (leaves about an inch to spare at top). i've had an antec overture 2..alright case, a little low for the heatsink options available beyond stock.. it's deadly quiet, even at a 3.2 gig overclock and has decent room to maneuver around in.

nMedia (a div. of Enermax) has a number of models. Also check out the NZXT Duet. You can find most of the HTPC and/or desktop style cases Newegg carries using Newegg's selection tools.

Just swapped from a Cooler Master ATC-620 to this Antec, and both temps and noise went down.

The Antec NSK480 just cant be beat for the after rebate price. Its only real flaw is that your DVD drive is visible and therefore must be silver. I've also used the first generation nMedia case and it was excellent (after I disconnected all that crap on the front panel).

I went with a black drive because that kind of thing doesn't bother me. It's a 2-tone case anyway. I guess it might bother me more if the case were all silver.

for a good looking & functional A/V component style case: Antec NSK2480 (mATX)
for a good looking & small/unobtrusive tower style case: Antec NSK3480 (mATX) or Lian LI PC-A05 (ATX)
