HTPC Case to support monitor on Top?

Hi,

I've been fooling around with the idea of a DIY HTPC, most premade systems seem to have drawbacks.

I've thought that if I get a case where I can stack a decent size (not monster!) LCD TV on top, I'd add a lot of flexibility to the cabling and cabinet set up.

Any cases that are rated somehow for weight, or if not a good idea due to cooling, etc, and sort of 'protective box' that is pre-made?

I can do welding.... but didn't want to go THAT far.... and a wall mount is not practical for where my current theater setup resides.

Thanks

its not viable.... because most htpc if done correctly and not used for heavy gaming purpose would be VESA mounted directly behind the TV/Monitor itself

I have my 20" Acer LCD on top of a Silverstone GD05B. The case has a cross member that runs directly underneath the middle of the top panel which distributes loads from above to the sides of the case. With this structural member installed I could see a much heavier monitor/TV being placed on top without issue.

What are you on about?

That is the LAST thing I would do and many people have their TVs mounted?

Can I see the industry standard for *correct* htpc use? LOL

OP I would find one made with steel with the aforementioned "crossbar" or whatever. Then you will probably be good to go. At worst if it bends or deforms a little so what?

It seems most Lian-lis and Silverstones I looked at feature this.

Or are you telling me, you wont wall mount a TV?
Then you can still hide the VESA mount behind the TV..

What problem do you have with VESA mounts?
Im lost in your statement.
