HTPC, BlueRay, and sound

Built an HTPC awhile ago, and have finally gotten around to building a BrD collection. System is buit on an intel DG45FC mini-ITX board, using the HDMI for video. Noticed that I cannot get BrD sound to come out of the existing 5.1 Logitech setup I'm using (X-530, about 4 years old?). Currently using TV speakers to push BrD sound through HDMI. TV installed is a Samsung LN46B610. Playing BrD through PowerDVD 10.

Is there a basic 2.1 or 5.1 system that uses SP/DIF (which I think I need to push sound out of the speakers)? I'm in a condo, so I don't need massive sound, just something better the TV speakers that I have to push to 100%.

If any more details are needed, let me know

That's what I got powering my HTPC and haven't had any problems yet playing any of the video formats I have. I also live in an Apt and am not audiophile so I needed something that was fairly good, and wasn't too powerful. I'm using Toslink optical out to the receiver. The reciver itself has optical in, coax in, two rca inputs, usb input, and is a dvd player with 1080p upconvert.

This is just a guess since I don't do BD with my HTPC, but you might just need something like ffdshow to do the audio decoding and send 5.1 to your existing speakers.

Not sure if your motherboard is capable of sending audio over the hdmi port but if it can you'll want to see if your default audio device is set to the hdmi port in the sound settings. For sound to come out of your speakers you'll need the default audio device set to your onboard audio.

PDVD should decode the audio and video without any other codecs. Make sure to select what audio setup you have in PDVD though.
