HTML emails

Don't worry, this is not for spam. I need to explore the option of creating these, but need to know if it's dependent on the user's client setting (I don't recall it being a setting in Outlook). Is it a [recipient's] server setting ? Outgoing server setting ?

I basically need to guarantee the HTML will render instead of it displaying the code.

And while I'm at it, there needs to be an image that is a link... are html emails capable of that ?

Sorry, I meant to edit with --> I'm pretty sure you're going to say there's no guarantee, but as long as I make it as feasible as possible... and the user didn't already know how to turn it off...

it's all up to the user. if they set their email client to text-only, it will appear as code.

you could make a text only and an HTML version and offer them a choice when subscribing.
