Hey,
I'm interested in setting up another home theater in a medium-sized living room. I'm on a tight budget, so performance/cost ratio is especially important. I already have a DVD player (Sony NS325), a PS2 and a cable box, so I'm also interested in connecting the PS2 and cable box for DD 5.1 (optical and coax, respectively). Here are my choices:
1.) Onkyo HT-S760 ($500) - Tempting, and I've heard they sound great with both music and DVDs. Also the most expensive of the choices.
2.) Onkyo SKS-HT510 (6.1 speaker set), TX-SR501 6.1 Receiver ($450) - Its similar to the one above, except the reciever appears to only deliver 65 watts/channel, instead of 100 watts as #1 does. Unless I misread something.
Would 65 to each channel be enough in a medium-sized room? ( 20 x 20 maximum) I do save $50, which could go toward better cables.
3.) Samsung HT-SK5 - ($400) - Since these come with the Klipsch Quintets, the sound must be pretty darn good. The $400 price tag is before employee discount at the store that carries them, so it might come out $100-120 less... so it remains a serious possibility. Comes with 5-disc DVD player/receiver combo. The only nag is that its not a dedicated reciever, and since I can't find a single review of this set, I don't how well the reciever performs.
I'd like to know if any AT'ers have had experience with these systems, and if anyone has any other suggestions. Thanks!
