HTIB System for computer?

I use a 52" LCD display for my computer monitor and I'd like to hook up a good speaker system to the computer to compliment the LCD display.

I considered the higher-end LogiTech 5.1 systems, but now I'm wondering if I can buy a Home theater in a box system and hook that up to my PC.

Is that even possible and/or reccomended?
