Again, though, they are two different things. Even if we had some sort of a perfect cross platform benchmark, of course its going to show that the Titan has a slower GPU than the iPhone 4S or others. No one is denying that. The real question is "so what difference does that make - how do the devices actually perform?" And honestly, while the enthusiest crowd might not like it...its impossible to put a number on that. You have to pick up the phone and use it to see those differences.

I wish there were a better way to measure the "feel" of a device. E.G. if there were an easy way to measure:
- min/max/average FPS while navigating around the UI, zooming in/out on pictures/webpages/etc.
- how many milliseconds of input lag
- load times for various real-world websites
- boot up/shutdown time

I think those metrics would give you a much better notion of how fast a device feels. Honestly, I think Windows Phone would cream most Android devices in those areas.

Can we go back to the news about HTC Titan and less about WP7 vs Android and what smooth is?

Neither ATT stores had the titan in today. I'll try back in a few days. I want to get a feel for it and directly compare to the focus s. If I get the titan will get a bigger battery. Just wish I could combine the phones and have the perfect mango phone.

I had to try a few stores before finally landing mine last night. This phone kicks ass.

Display - absolutely beautiful. 10/10 you have to play with one to understand.
Weight/build - 8/10 - I hate he top power button placement but oh well, phone seems 'brittl' maybe.
Speed/smoothness - 10/10 - no lag, hickups or any other annoying stutters like my galaxy had.
Camera - 10/10 - all the reviews were correct.
4g speed,- 5/10 - overated hype. Not really the phone I suppuse, att.
Call quality 10/10 - excellent for speaker phone conference calls
Pre installed apps 10/10 - office. Enough said.. I live on outlook and Excel.
Appstore 7/10 - all essential apps there, just no fluff yet.
Signal strength 8/10 - a little better than my old blackberry, miles ahead of wife's iPhone 3gs.life/work in DFW,TX

Phone is 100% fluid if that makes any sense.
I have a WHS box set up at home so I can now have my own personal cloud linked to me everywhere I go, it has to be the coolest unknown feature no one knows about. It day makes up for the lack of SD card. I take a picture, it uplods directly to home server, very cool.

I am a slightly larger male and the phone is right at the LARGE feeling for me so I suggest the focus for most people.

In all the phone is better than expected but not perfect yet. Can't wait to see what future upgrades bring.

I finally got to play with the titan today. The phone is not nearly as big as I thought it would be. Not much bigger than the Focus S right next to it. The low res of the screen did not bother me a bit actually it is a postive for me and my old eyes. I love the titan my only issue is that the phone is slippery. I do not like cases on a phone especially one this large. I will make up my mind over the next few days. I think I will be happy with either phone. The back was coming off the Focus S at the store. WTF was samsung thinking the back is extremely cheap and flimsy. I could easily see those tiny tabs breaking off or that plastic getting dinged, punctured or warped.

Titan looks sick. But I already went through 3 phones in a month (buy/sold). I think I'll hold off playing with this for now.

Seriously considering dropping Verizon and my Droid X for either the Titan or the Focus S, but shockingly, pre-discount prices are now higher at AT&T, thanks to them offering only the $20/mo unlimited text message plan. A blatant rip off.

I am really itching to move back to WP7; I figure I can skip the Nexus since I'll get ICS on my tablet.

was using my brother-in-laws windows phone last night. an older HTC unit with a 4.3" screen. really like the experience with the phone. so much so I am honestly thinking twice about my galaxy nexus purchase -> which I will have in my grubby hands in the next few hours.

The screen size on the titan is still a point of resistance for me. so much real estate, so little resolution.

Regardless, I think windows phones are hugely underrated and the titan looks to be a great phone. I am thinking of getting one for my wife. that way if I like it better she can take the GN and I get the titan
