If you bought it off ebay it shouldn't matter. Just put in your SIM and you're good to go.

just to confirm, we have had both the 8525 & 8925 - you don't have to sign up for a data plan.

Make sure they completely block the data connection on the phone or you will be in for a surprise when the bill comes.
