So I couldn't resist, and jumped on the deal for the HTC One V and I have to say, I'm really impressed with the build quality, and can appreciate it's size after using the HTC Titan as my main phone.
Now, I was planning on selling the Titan, but my wife wants to give it a whirl in lieu of her Motorola Atrix 2: After using the Titan I liked it's build quality, display size (resolution notwithstanding), and how responsive WP7.5 is so I'm pretty sure that she'll keep the Titan as her phone.
That leaves the question: which phone do I hold onto, between the One V and Atrix 2?
For me, I would consider myself a quasi-casual user (I know of XDA-developers and can read, pretty much), and surf the web and play (some) games on it - but I do notice most popular games are casual games and I'm guessing emulation will be a wash between both phones. As far as plans go we're on pay-as-you-go plans so contracts are a no issue, but I do find that CDMA options generally offer a better bang for the buck.
Here's the pros and cons, as far as I can tell.
HTC One V
Pros
- Much better build quality
- Thinner
- Smaller size
- Phone is rooted/unlocked
- Better battery life
- Better MVNO options (Page Plus, Virgin Mobile)
Cons
- Lower display size and resolution
- Lower Specs
- Possibly less compatibility due to the lower specs
- Non-removable battery (not intended for access, anyway)
- Not sure about camera/video quality, but lower resolution for what it's worth
Motorola Atrix 2
Pros
- I can stay on my current MVNO (H20 - 1000 mins for $25/mo)
- Removable battery
- Higher display size and resolution
- Better Specs
- With said better specs I'm assuming (wrongly?) more apps will be compatible
- Not sure about camera/video quality, but higher resolution for what it's worth
Cons
- Current plan is not very good bang for buck (vs. Page Plus or Virgin Mobile)
- Build quality is poorer than HTC One
- Phone has OTA update installed, can't root/unlock (for now)
I'm definitely leaning towards the One only because the build quality is so much better, but I'm still not 100% sure - what are your thoughts, AT?
