HTC ONE M7 to LG G2, an upgrade?

I see the LG G2 can be had for $200 outright off-contract now. I currently have an HTC ONE M7 on Sprint. Thinking of buying a G2 for Verizon and switching to a prepaid plan.

Has anyone gone from the M7 to a G2? I know the G2 has a more powerful chipset in it and I'm wondering if its worth the switch?

I don't really play graphics intensive games or watch movies. I use it for a few card games, google maps navigation, work email, RSS feeds, and streaming music. Just wondering if the performance difference is noticeable and whether the larger screen is helpful? Also do people like the buttons on the back?

There's nothing wrong necessarily with my M7. The camera really sucks and the screen feels a little small, but that's my only complaint.

I think the G2 is on a tier above the M7. The G2 was really when phones hit the "good enough" phase, and outside of the S6 we still don't have anything that smokes that Qualcomm 800.

The downside to the G2 is the stock software is worse than Sense. So I think if you are a ROM person it is worth it, if you are a run it stock person a real upgrade is a Nexus 5 or so.

I haven't had issues with the stock G2 rom myself. Flies as smoothly any Apple device I've used, and better than most. Between the performance, battery life, display, and size, the G2 is a well balanced phone.

Bang for the buck, most S800 devices deliver. It has certainly aged better than most chips over the past near two years.

Agreed with everything you said until the "stock software".
Its fine and it doesn't hinder the phone at all.
2 yrs later and I don't see a compelling reason to upgrade my G2.

Well it's a matter of preference, but I also find LG's KK software the least attractive and useful on the G2 compared to Sense and even TW. Hopefully Lollipop comes sooner than later.

Otherwise it's still a great phone - build isn't the best compared to the M7, and of course sound. However battery, camera, and performance are going to be better and you get a larger screen.

IMO it's a minor upgrade overall.

Perhaps it's more due to the UI resembling something closer to the Gingerbread UI I upgraded from, aka, a UI I am more familiar with than current stock Android. So yeah, preference there. I absolutely loathed Touchwiz btw.

Best part about the G2, no mid work-day charging.

g2 is a great phone, but I'd do it because you want to switch carriers and the m7 won't work rather than the g2 is *that* much better. Its better, but not $200 for the hell of it better.
