The Nexus 4 is a very strong individual model and well known for being a good deal, at least among mobile tech enthusiasts. Samsung, HTC, LG, Sony, et al have a diverse array of phones and only the Galaxy S series has strong brand recognition among the entire Android userbase. But even that has some potential buyers siphoned off by those who prefer the larger size of the Note line.

Also, the Nexus 4 wasn't available for use on either Verizon or Sprint, which is a potential reach of over 150 million customers. Oh, and no LTE on AT&T or official LTE on T-Mobile.

Talking about LTE, I've learned that there now is LTE in my town (new tower?). My next door neighbor just showed it to me. And holy wow it is FAST. I have been more than happy with HSPA+ service on my N4 but now I am less certain.

It's not just about speed. IT's also latency and spectrum. LTE is a lot less crowded (at least for AT&T) and so you have 4G, 3G, 2G to rely on if your network starts getting congested. A lot of times on 3G I see my phone trying to connect with the up arrow flashing a few times before it finally obtains a solid connection. This doesn't seem to be an issue on LTE at least from what I've noticed.

And plus, while I can get 7000kbps downloads at work on HSPA+ easily, it's not always that nice everywhere I walk. The LTE speeds do help especially when I don't have full bars or whatever...

This.

Latencies on LTE are so much better. Not just continuous ping but how quickly it sets up a connection from a cold start. Sometimes I have to wait 10 seconds before H+ finally connects and starts transferring data.

LTE up here in Canada runs on AWS so it has trouble penetrating buildings meaning you generally get much better reception with HSPA. But I still leave my phone on auto so that I'd get LTE as often as possible.

LTE is a huge upgrade on AT&T. It feels like WiFi.

I hate LTE on AT&T. It's so good, sometimes even better than my WiFi, that I keep burning past my 3 GB cap. That's without a ton of music streaming or any Netflix/video streaming, just regular browsing and the occasional audio podcast download a few times a week.

AT&T's HSPA+ latency is close to that of LTE's in my area. It is LTE's throughput that is 3+ times higher than HSPA+. It's gotta be a recent development here because last year I used to get 2~3 Mbps max under its "4G" banner.

It's not just regular latency but also the channel setup time. LTE goes from standby to ready-to-transmit in less than a second whereas HSPA can sometimes take several seconds.

Yeah but its the same build right? I don't know. I feel like there's ALWAYS going to be users out there with issues. Is it PEBKAC or not? I don't know. I see plenty of people flashing 4.3 on XDA and its mostly without issues.

On my Galaxy Nexus it was a no go. Data network became all wonky, symbol showed connection but was always grayed out.

Anyone flash the i9505 GE ROMs on their ATT S4 i337?
Do you need to flash an ATT kernel afterwards?

OK good, now to wait for a 4.3 ROM from the final build.
I'm running a leaked build of 4.3 and I think there is noticeably worse battery than the stock TW ROM. Hope the final version fixes that. Seems it is mostly caused by google services doing something.
