HTC Hero, no SERO

I just went to the store here to get this phone and waas told SERO was a no go on that phone. I thought sprint said it would be one of the new phones that can access the SERO plan. Im going to call telesales to confirm this.

Anyone else be told no on the HERO SERO? 🙂

when you get the actual phone and try to activate, you will be denied.

In other news, ask me why I'm seriously considering moving to AT&T! I don't even have SERO, just Fair & Flexible, and they're pulling this BS with me. 🙁

Yeah telesales said no also on the SERO. I guess i couldnt ride SERO forever. Its been a fun ride though lol.

if you're gonna leave sero just because some other fancy phones are out there, at the very least, transfer your contract to someone else who can take advantage of it. $30 is amazing for what you get.

Yup, they jerked people around for a bit and when the big day finally came, they said "no way man!".

I already knew that was going to happen. They want as many folks as possible on expensive data plans.
I'm having the same problem with Verizon right now. Too damn expensive for everything I want. If they dont offer me a cheap voice plan and reasonable data plan I'll dump them completely and just use a Tracfone.

Do you know how old the fair and flexible plan is? Why in the heck would you even want a nice phone with a basic talk only plan? What's the point?

Go ahead and move to AT&T and have them nickle and dime you for everything 😉

Once you slap data on it for $15 a line, it's pretty nice. Better than the existing family options of the same price.

They didn't seem worse than Sprint on a non-Everything plan...

They really don't have anything but everything plans, pick what you want. Talk, text, or data. Makes the whole thing much simpler than all the add-ons and it comes out cheaper than the competition the vast majority of the time.

Here's the thing, though: I don't _want_ all that stuff, and I don't want to pay for stuff I don't want. I agree, if you want the whole kit and kaboodle, Sprint is great... but they've really dropped the ball on those of us who don't.

Im on SERO also and Im waiting for TMobile to fire up Project Dark. Patience will pay off for those of us wanting nicer handsets on SERO.

I actually prefer T-mobile's method of treating the customer (like a valued asset as opposed to a villain who must be controlled) but their network hasnt been as solid as the others.
Would love to do this with a high end Nokia or Android-based phone.

Aye. Hopefully they will be able to keep their same top notch customer service with 1/3 again as many customers.

Unlimited texts with 450 minutes for $50 is a good deal no matter how you look at it, not counting T-Mobiles project dark which is just peculation at this point. Same with their data plan. Who's plan is 450/unlim text/$50/mo? Or is that the new SERO plan (if so you forgot to add unlim data and roaming hehe)? Im on the old one so not sure what the new ones are.

Unless you don't text at all. We use data, no texts, and maybe 200 minutes of voice a month. Sprint's cheapest Everything family plan that still qualifies for a corp discount is $30 HIGHER than the $70+$30 we pay now.

Please stop telling me what plan is cheapest and best for my needs. Not only do I know them my own needs better than you, but I also happen to have access to corporate discounts of varying amounts - some of which are higher than others. Factoring all of my needs and discounts in, it looks as if AT&T has a better plan for me than Sprint. Stop trying to tell me I can't do math - I damn well know I can.

Is there a special plan from att that you apply for or something? As far as I know that's currently available, if you get a similar phone (pda phone) you will be required to get the $30 PDA personal data plan from att..

Interesting - didn't realize that they had one tier for smartphones and one tier for featurephones. I suppose that changes the equation a fair bit. Mea culpa.
