Hooray indeed $199, not $250 as few had feared.

Radio Shack will give you $100 off the 2-year price if you trade in your og EVO 4G.

It's a sweet deal, but I think I'll be keeping my og EVO when I get the EVO 3D. That, or I'll give it to my girlfriend. Hoping for another June 4th release.

Radio shack's site shows a trade in at $179 if its in good shape and trade in your charger :)

lol, 3d. /facepalm

I don't think any of us are getting it for the 3D (but of course the average consumer probably would). The specs are the best of any phone to date. I just really hope they use a high quality display and allow you to turn off the 3D for the screen.

The lucky few who get to play with phones at tech demos say the screen is pretty good, and yes you can turn 3D off completely if you want.

Edit: the Evo 3D has a much better cpu/gpu soc than the samsung galaxy 2, fyi.

I predict that this will sell out quickly. It's the only phone in Sprint's lineup that's being provisioned with this year's high end standards: dual core CPU, high quality display, plenty of RAM. My upgrade date isn't until July 1 so hopefully they'll have another batch ready to go by then.

My contract expires on end of Sept, BUT full upgrade eligibility is already in effect.

Go call up Sprint now, ask for Retention, and tell them if they can pull up your expiration date, so you can upgrade fully. Also ask for $70 account-in-good standing credit. You can have BOTH towards Evo 3D, making the phone mere $130!

This is exactly what I did.

Unless you care about the 3D aspect I think the SGS2 will be a better all-rounder.

I care zero about the 3D gimmick (although it is cool).

I want Evo3D because it's a beast of a phone offering 1.2Ghz dual-core. It will be the fastest phone out on the market for sometime, at least til end of 2011.

I'll be upgrading from my humble Blackberry Tour and am looking for an all-in-one portable multimedia machine.

Galaxy S II has 480 x 800 resolution = 384,000 pixels
3D Evo has 540 x 960 = 518,400 pixels.

That's a whopping 35.2% more pixel count than Galaxy. People say Galaxy has a nicer screen quality, but there's no away around the sheer resolution difference.

Evo3D's aspect ratio is perfect quarter-HD (qHD). So all youtube vids, movies and media will be displayed perfectly.

The SGS2 also has a 1.2Ghz dual core, it's already faster than the EVO3D.

Link? Did you conveniently forget the qHD display of Evo3D while SGS2 is stuck in the past?

Screen resolution doesn't change the fact that the SGS2 is a much faster phone. The Samsung Exynos CPU is basically the same as the one in the iPad 2.

qHD display will be less noticeable than the vibrant S-AMOLED Plus. Small resolution difference isn't going to be noticed. But you'll definitely notice the total awesomeness of S-AMOLED Plus display if you put any other phone side by side. There will not be another phone display better than S-AMOLED+ this year. That I'm confident.

No fanboyism here. I'm still on the fence on which phone to get.

+35% is a 'small resolution difference'? That's HUGE.

CPU is only faster by 10-15% by SGSII.
http://www.intomobile.com/2011/03/24/nvidia-tegra-2-outperforms-qualcomm-dualcore-1015/

I think That is the 'small difference' that a normal user wouldn't care or notice on a daily basis. Having a whole 'third more' display that you take advantage of on every browsing you do is BIG for me (or anyone).

I'm really not convinced on this S-AMOLED Plus. It just means brighter colors on the smaller resolution? Please tell me what a big deal this is.

Do you also think a 1080p LCD TV is better than a 720p Plasma?

The resolution difference only matters if the display quality is equal and that's far from the case. The SGS2's Super AMOLED Plus display has better contrast, better viewing angles, better blacks, and vastly superior response time.

The Galaxy S2 also has the advantage of having far better media format support than other Android phones, including the Evo 3D.

Finally the Evo 3D is considerably thicker than the Galaxy S2.

Yes, I do prefer 1080p on a lesser display than 'dotty' 720p.

I also happen to like HTC Sense. Decisions....

That's fine but 99% of AV enthusiasts will take the plasma since they actually care about picture quality.
