Yeah I'm pretty excited!

Already have a Toshiba 56HM195. But its time to go to the next level. Friday I'll pick up a
Yamaha RX-V663

RBH Towers

RBH surrounds

RBH Sub

Yeah, I'm pretty excited. Thats all. I just had to post cause, well, I'm stoked! :D

I see many many movies this weekend.

UPDATE

Well, got the receiver, fronts and sub. Since I will eventually use this in the bedroom I decided to forego the surrounds for now although I may pick them up later.

Few hours after getting it I had it all wired up.

The receiver is the cats meow. WOW. VERY nice. While I would have liked 1 more HDMI input I can certainly make do with 2.

The speakers are everything I had expected. Very very good speakers. The sub leaves a bit to be desired but thats expected. Since speakers are so subjective I wont go into all the fancy descriptions, but to sum up they are very good and well worth a look if you can find a dealer in your area.

Where's the center channel?

Have you thought about getting a better sub? (How big is your room?)

Center is a JBL and DVD player is a Marantz, and yes I will need a bigger sub but for now this beats the hell out of a drum. Har har har.

Why not get the sub size you want now? (I don't know what you're paying for the RBH sub, but there are some very capable subs for $400-ish)

I am getting it as a package deal (Which addresses the center issue above) and once I do upgrade to the sub I want I am going to move this one to the bedroom so while its a bit underwhelming for the primary need (living room) it'll fit nicely in the bedroom later.

I don't understand... you're getting it as a package deal explains the lack of a center?

Doh! I forgot to mention it has a center, JBL center. The center is a mismatch to the rest of the system.

This isnt "package deal" like you would normally find in a store. My friend is a dealer and when he ends up with whatever it may be, overstock, demo units, returns etc etc he lets some of his friends get the stuff cheap to get it out of his store. Thats what this is.

i COULD peice it all out. He has a price listed for everything. Sub, center, towers, surrounds, receiver. The price is the same if I buy one at a time or everything, but to make it all nice and easy plug and play I'm grabbing everything. Later on I can start swapping anything out. Anything swapped ends up in the bedroom so it isnt as if the gear goes to waste.

Ok, I assumed the lack of the center and DVD player in the OP meant that you already had them vs. they were coming with the package.

You might want to just skip the mismatched JBL center and run a phantom center with the RBH towers.

Have you listened to all this stuff to make sure you like it compared to other products?

When buying a full system from a shop, you can sometimes get 20% or something off the total cost so I just want to make sure you're REALLY getting a deal on this and it's actually the right stuff for you.

I haven't been to an RBH dealer and don't really know what prices these are going for now retail vs. how much you're paying for them. It's good that you're getting a deal on stuff, but is it a good enough deal to get this mismatched system that doesn't really meet all your needs for a main system? I just want to make sure that this is your best use of your money vs. picking out your own system.

I have heard them yes. I was saving for Paradigms but he came up with this and the price was right. They do sound good, damn sure good enough I will be happy anyways.

As for the deal, I'm getting everything for well under $1000 so it really is a good enough deal that I have no problems getting it.

Ok sounds good.

I looked up some of the reviews on the RBH stuff and saw the floorstanders going for $1000 and the sub going for $450-$500 on its own so I was worried you might be getting a pretty good deal on this stuff but still spending quite a bit on it.

If you're getting all this (5 speakers, receiver, DVD player, sub) for under $1k, then good deal

I know some people have bought things that might have been a good deal but could have done better had they actually gotten items that were more suited to their use. This looks like a very solid sub-$1k setup. I'd still recommend trying the setup without the JBL center though. The sound information from the center track is the most important track for a movie so you'll want to play that back with high quality. Unless it's a really nice JBL speaker, you're probably better off having the front speakers play the center track as well until you can get a matching center to go with them.

Yes however I was tired and didnt yet hook it up. Actually waiting on an order for some banana plugs, then I have to redo the wiring.
