HT PC - Audio Help

Howdy ATer's long time no see! So anyways, I've decided to turn my PC into a my own home theatre. I ordered Logitech's Z-5500 speaker system a few weeks ago but after numerous delays I've become frustrated and am looking at other options. A HT in a box? I have no audio experience whatsover so I have no idea what I'm looking at.

I have a nVidia nForce2 Soundstorm and was just going to plug the digital connection into the Logitech and go. Is this a reasonable solution? I had thought that a basic HT in a box like above would be too skimpy, but so far my impression from what I've read that is even basic HT speakers (not necessarily those ones I linked) would be comparable to computer speakers. (Even the Z-5500s?) Maybe I could even get HT components individually, but then I'm really running around blind...

So should I just wait it out and stick with the Z-5500's?

Help!

P.S - I should note that I am only concerned with music and movies. I thought the digital out on the soundstorm to the logitech's would be good for the Dolby Digital stuff... but I have really no clue what I'm talking about. Also, I'm just a student, so I can't really afford a real HT, nor do I have the room, as this will be in my bedroom.

Thanks!

Soundstorm connected to z-5500s is a fine plan and if you got a good deal on the 5500s, very hard to beat for the price.

If you're thinking about going to HTIB solutions, I suggest looking at Onkyo. Oh, Canadian, eh? I really don't know much about HTIB prices up there. Normally I'd suggest something like an Onkyo 780 set or an AV123 rocket tykes package, but I don't know how much more that's going to be for you.

Check out AVSforum and their HTIB area in particular for more ideas.

If you're planning on connecting more than a computer and one more device, I think a receiver solution would be better than your z-5500s.

If your computer is pretty much going to be your only source, budget is low, you want to keep size down, and you don't have a huge room to fill... then I think z-5500s make sense.
