HSF required to OC geForce2MX?

I got the OEM Leadtek geForce2 MX w/o HSF/HS. I'm wondering about Oc'ing it, but I'm afraid of damaging it if there isn't any sort of cooling. What's your experience? If it does need cooling, what kind?

Also, I've noticed quite a bit of artifacting under certain games and settings. Is this due to overheating?
