I have a Coolermaster DP5-6H51-A1 w/ my Athlon 1.0GHz, and the CPU temp is a little high (53 degrees right now). I'm buying an Enermax PSU mainly because of the dual fans so it'll cool my case better (case temp is now 41 degrees).

I want to have a better HSF too, but I don't want more noise, just a good HSF. Which one do you recommend?

If you want good cooling w/o the noise I would try
the TAISOL CGK742092 . You can find them here.

Did TaiSol go out of business?

Not that I know of. The link I posted above
currently still sells their fans. If they did that`s
too bad, they had a good thing going in a
pretty agressive market.

Plycon and KD Computers sell the Taisol CGK. I would go with the SK6 if I had the choice.

Why do you need a new sink? 53 is fine man! Don't waste your money. I just got that same heatsink as an upgrade!

I agree with SMP you do not need a new HSF.
But do not get an SK6 if you want something
quiet, but then again you could put a quiet fan
on an SK6 heatsink and still get the excellent
Thermalright cooling.

is the golden gate/ocz gladiator with a ys tech 40cfm still considered a good heatsink for ocing? it was back with the 1.0-1.4 athlons, was just wondering if it would work well for ocing the xps.

I'm not too familiar with that sink, but the way I figure it, if it was good enough for a 1.4, it should be good enough for any XP... they run cooler. IMO of course, I could be very very very wrong, I often am.

last time i checked (this was about a month and a half ago) the only hsf/s that came close or beat it was the sk6 (same scores) and the swiftech...462? (whatever the big expensive bastard is). was just wondering if anything had come up. i see a lot of people using the sk6, but the goldengate is about half-1/3 the price...

Well, the SK6 is still a very popular heatsink as far as I can tell. I guess that answers your question.
