HSF recomendation for DuoExtreme X6800

I'm thinking about replacing the stock intel HSF with a more QUIETER HSF that can perform as good or better than the intel stock HSF, because the stock HSF, is noisy as a Jet engine, and when used under half speed, then it doesn't cool enough.

and i'm not into the water cooling thing, still paranoid about the Leaks 😛

If you want to cut down on the noise and up the performance go with the Zalman CNPS-9500AT (or 9700NT if you want bragging rights).

The 4 pin PWM fan will keep things quiet at idle and cool when you need it under load.

Thanks guys, much appreciated, that info will give me some ideas what to get 😀

Now time to do homework and research all of the above 🙂

EDIT:
well it's settled i think i'm going for this baby - CNPS9500 LED
http://www.zalman.co.kr/usa/product/view.asp?idx=165&code=009

If you are building this for a s775 machine you want the 9500AT (not the LED) for it's 4-pin PWM fan so your board will be able to control the RPM based on CPU temp.

The LED version of the 9500 will not be controllable on many socket 775 boards so you'll either have to run it at full speed 100% of the time or use the FanMate to try to stick some kind of compromise between noise and cooling performance.

The Thermalright HR-01 is supposed to be an excellent heatsink - but it's pricey.

A less expensive option is the Noctua U9, $30 at Xoxide. It performs about as well as an XP-120 in some tests.

Or, if you want something cheap and functional, the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro is not too bad. No, it won't let you overclock much (if at all), but at $20, it's a bargain.
