HSF powered by mobo header or PSU?

I have a Taisol CGK760 and an MSI K7 master- I've read that HSFs with fans under 6800 RPM can be plugged right into the motherboard fan header. The CGK760 has a 4800 rpm fan, but Taisol's site says that it is compatible with a 3 pin molex- which i could hook up to my more then able 400w PSU. Suggestions, thoughts?

It really depends on what the mobo header is rated at and
what power the fan needs.
If the fan draws more power than the mobo can supply
it will eventually damage the mobo.

I suggest going to MSI's web site and email support
asking what the fan headers on the motherboard are rated.

I did this with EPOX and got an answer in one day.

If unsure plug it into the PSU to be safe.

Hope this helps....
