HSF on TBred a balancing act?

I put a Galaxy GC88 cooler on an 1800+ TBredB, and the die being so tiny, the hsf basically "balances" on it. As in, if I push any corner of the hsf down towards the mb, it tips in that direction. I can also twist the heatsink around (its a 1 clip/side design, so it can rotate around the 'balance' point to some extent). But the hsf cannot be pulled off the die, since the clip holds it down firmly. It just bothers me that this happens. My old Taisol with the 3clips/side design wouldn't budge in any direction once it was on the socket. My current computer makes me feel like I'm watching a circus act everytime I look at it.

When it's inastalled in an upright position (as in a tower, if applicable), does it tip downward? If not, I would be more worried about wether you cracked the core fiddling with it. If it does, return it.

Yes, it tips downward towards the motherboard when pushed on any corner. The hsf keeps the chip at 35 degrees celcius, so I know it works fine. It just that I know the hsf isn't 'perfectly' seated.

If you use a fair amount of thermal grease, this shouldn't be a problem. Just don't push on the heatsink corners, and make sure no wires or cables apply pressure the heatsink. I kind of understand where you are coming from, my Volcano 7+ is the same way in the clip design, and my Epox motherboard is setup so that the mobo power lead comes down from the PSU in such a way that I have to carefully maneuver it so it doesn't hit my 'sink.

Be sure the 4 ruber corner pads are in place. the help prevent tipping.
