HSF Installation

I was trying to install the stock HSF of A64 on my DFI LAN PARTY Ultra-D board and I was wondering, does it really require that much strength to push it because I was already trying and I'm afraid I might break the board. And btw, is the base of the heatsink really supposed to touch the processor?

Make sure you're following the instructions that come with the processor. It should take quite a bit of force to get the clip onto the little ridge parts.

The base of the heatsink needs to make very good contact with the CPU in order to cool it. If it wasn't touching it, the CPU would overheat in a matter of seconds.

Yeah, the retail HSF is a bit tough to get on. I replaced the retail HSF on my setup with a ThermalTake Silent Boost, and it went on with practically no force at all. It all depends on how the HSF is designed.
