HSF for Socket A cpu's

i'm running a 750mhz duron with a volcano2 hsf. it cools pretty decent (my cpu temp is usually about 38C), but GOD is it ever loud! at first i thought it was my PSU so i paid $100 for a new enermax, but after i got the new PSU, i realized it was the volcano2 thats causing the ruckus. can anyone reccomend another hsf for socket A cpu's that cool decently and doesn't sound like a vaccum cleaner? or is there a way to quiet my volcano2 down, without hurting its cooling performance?

If you slow the fan down you will reduce your cooling performance. The more air that moves over the heatsink the better. I've heard that the Taisol CGK760092 is pretty quiet as far as coolers go.

You could put a low output fan on the V2 but your temp would go up quite a bit. Unfortunately CPU coolers are always going to be loud, good ones anyway.

EDIT: I just remembered. You could try putting an 80 or 92mm adapter on the heatsink and use a larger quieter fan. Go to CPUFX, they sell the necessary adapters.

Taisol 760 is very quiet. I really like it. 🙂
