HSF for Pentium D 840 EE

I have never done research for a hsf before as stock ones have always been sufficient for my needs. However, I recieved a Pentium D 840 EE and it didn't come with a hsf (didn't want to go with stock cooling anyways). Can anyone give me some recommendations on a hsf or point me to some good places to do some research (forum search yeilded little)? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your quick response. The XP-120 looks pretty sweet and I'll probably go with it. I don't really feel like messing around with water cooling at this point. Thanks again for your help.
 
$1000...Hope you got a good deal on that Pentium...

I'll second the suggestion for an XP-120. You'll want a fast, loud fan as that Pentium will be putting out some serious heat.
 
The xp-120 is monsterously big, so make sure it's compatible with your motherboard. Good luck cooling that thing, even the xp-120 couldn't keep my 3.4ghz prescott cool, I can't imaging having 2 prescott cores stuffed in one package. An XP-90 and Zalman 7700 would also be a good choice.
 
Haha. Good luck cooling this thing 🙂. I have a hard time cooling my 3.0 prescott, let alone THIS beast 😉.
That said, XP120 + Panaflo U1A (Ultra High Speed).

The sidewindercomputer.com site said that the XP-120 was compatible with all socket 775 motherboards, so I was going to trust them on that...

" With a customized LGA 775 adapter kit, XP-120 is designed to fit all socket T (LGA775) motherboard. So far, we have not found any board that is not compatible with XP-120. If you've found any, we would appreciate if you could report them to here."

The northbridge fan on my abit AS8 was in the way of the heatsink. I couldn't get the fan off, so I basicly had to chop the top half of the fan(just the plastic edges, not actualy the fan blades) off in order to get the heatsink to fit..
 
I had an Intel 640 paired w/ the Asus P5WD2 and XP-120. Fits fine and hangs over the passive northbridge cooler. With the 120mm fan, it'll cool off both the cpu and northbridge.

Yeah, sidewinder mentions having to mod some boards to get it to work. Again, I'm trusting them that it'll fit my board...

I bought the XP-120 today with the Panaflo 120x38 Ultra High Speed 116 CFM along with a Asus P5WD2.

Thanks for you help guys/gals. I'll repost when I have it all put together 🙂
