I'm looking for recommendations on a HSF for my athlonxp 2000+. I want one which is extremely quiet and doesn't need case fans for support to keep the cpu at moderate temperatures. Is this asking too much for one HSF? Any input would be appreciated.

The 68 is garbage. I had one and the clip broke the first time I used it. Its a paper weight now. Many others have had the same problem. For $15 you could get a Thermalright SK7 or AX7...figure another $5 for a low speed fan, or spring for a YS Tech adjustable, which is what you should do :)

I disagree. I have ordered and used over 50 of them and have had absolutely no problems. Every single one of them is being run with Panaflo L1As and they do a hell of a job. I have used them on everything from a stock build to dual overclocked rigs.

I'm interested in a coolermaster slk800a. What fan should I pair this up with and what sizes can it fit?

Yea I meant thermalright. Any alternatives to the slk800 + fan cuz I'm on a low budget and its kinda expensive...

Ok how does a zalman CNPS7000A-AlCu sound to you? Any good? It comes with a fan and speed adjuster and supposedly runs real quiet, which is what I am aiming for.

I think you should still have at least one rear exhaust fan on your case besides the power-supply fan. The heatsink can't work miracles... you've got to move the heat out of the case.

As for a heatsink, if you're looking at the SLK-800A then also consider the less-expensive SK-7, it cools nearly as well and takes 80mm fans just like the 800A does. A Panaflo L1A is a good fan to pair up with it, or a YS Tech adjustable-speed 80mm (but if you turn this one all the way down, it's WAY down :Q).

Hope that helps :)
