HSF for an 1800+

Im going to be getting myself an 1800+ soon and Im looking for a heatsink recommendation. I already have a delta 6800RPM fan, so Im probably going to keep that. I was looking at plycon to see what kind of heatsinks are out there and that Hedgehog that takes the double fans caught my eye. Is that overkill? Any suggestions?
thanks,
-doug

PS. Noise doesnt really matter.

the PAL 8045 is a good pick...just check to make sure you have the mounting holes on the mboard. I would prefer to have gotten that one because I hate the clips that I have on the sk6. IT works great, but I am always worried about damaging something while pushing down to get the heat sink fan in place. Screwing it in seems far better.

Pushing what down? I didn't have to push on anything to get the fan on.

Another good heatsink is the Taisol CGK760092 for the price very hard to beat also when you add powerful delta fan and AS2 it will give the SK6 run for it`s money at half the price.

🙂

I am not sure where you are shopping at, but the 760092 is roughly 35.00 and the SK6 w/ Sunon HO is 35.00

John,I should say in the UK the SK6 is nearly double the price around £30 without fan, while the Taisol is £17-18 with the normal supplied fan, prices taken from The Overclocking store. I know in each country prices will be different. Plus someone had to vote for a different cooler 😉.

🙂

Damn, you guys got it bad over there. 😉 I will vouch for the 769902's ability, and it is a damn fine heatsink. However, given the negligible price difference in the USA the SK6 is the better buy IMHO.

Say hello to the Queen!!

Swiftech MC462-A or MCX462.

Pair it with a quiet fan (I like the Papst 8412NGL) and you've got a silent monster.

Alpha's PAL8045 is nice as well, but in my testing, it doesn't match the Swiftech.

Both of these use the 4-hole mounting system, which not only secures the heatsink nicely, but eliminates the fear so many people have of "crushing" their cores. Also, the horrific clips on some of the HS/F units are avoided.

LOL..yes having tea with the Queen tomorrow 😉,btw I`ve just received my Taisol(got a spare YS-tech 60mm 26cfm fitted to it) just waiting for my Epox 8HKA+ board now.

🙂

Pabster, how does the Alpha 8045 compare to the SK6 in your testing? I see the SK6 has a c/w of .19 and the 8045 has a .21 according to o/c'ers.com

The SK-6 fares decently with 35CFM+ of air flow. Less than that, and I can't recommend it.

PAL8045 and MC462-A fare well, even with "silent" fans, such as the Silencers, Papst, Adda, et al.

why spend $35 on a SK-6 or 7600092 when for $39.34 you can get a Alpha PAL8045 w/ a cheap ass 80mm fan shipped at svcompucycle

i've bought 5 of these badboys from svc so far.... a great price for the best heatsink made.

Where would I find this combo?
