i have an tt typhoon and i ll tell u my opinion... idle temps are not that low BUT when i load my cpu with applications typhoon keeps my temps low... fact: 33 idle and 42 load for 10hours in prime95. amd 64 3000 oc 2250mhz. So when my cpu is loaded temps are not getting very high in my opinion. Probably some other guys may give u their personal opinion about the others hsf's.

Really didn't care at all for the XP-90. But their SI 120 is the one to get if you have the room. After a load on the CPU this sink really drops the temps down to idle temps way faster. Providing you have cool and quiet enabled. I wasn't getting too much better than stock temps with the XP-90 but a quieter fan. But the Thermalright SI 120 really works getting the temps down fast.

The heta-pipe cooler isnt for AMD app. I'd say the XP-90C with a good fan on it.

Add my vote for the Big Typhoon. I'm hitting 2.8 GHz with my X2 3800 thanks to it.

here's a review comparing the BT to other coolers. IMO, the BT is way too heavy and you would be better off getting a CNPS9500 or SI-120 (or similar to the si-97, xp-90, and xp120)

My own experiments with OC'ing my X2, and from what I read, suggest that the limiting factor for how far you can push it is not really heat-related. My 4400+ craps out long before heat becomes an issue. Obviously cooler is always better, but I really don't think heat is a big factor because these chips really don't get very hot. Rather there is a threshold for each chip over which it rapidly gets much harder to OC. As such, I think any decent hsf will do the job.

The BT is just waaaaaaayyyyy OTT. Save it for your dual core Pentiums! And I advise against the Thermaltake CL-0092. Again, my experiments suggest that fans in funnels don't work very well due to air back-pressure issues.

Just out of curiosity what temps are you running with that heatsink?
At idle, with C'n'Q enabled, it shows up as 1C under case temp. Right now it's 32C and the case is 33C. At full load on both cores it levels out at about 52C. I have the Venus 12 speed controlled via its thermal diode. The fan runs at 2000 rpm at idle, up to about 4000rpm at 52C. It's pretty much silent at idle.
