I'm considering buying the Arctic Pro Freezer 64 Pro for my 955 cpu. My concern is that I am reading that the base plate doesn't quite cover the entire processor.

Is this an issue that should have me looking elsewhere?

That would be a yes, you should keep looking. Not sure what your budget is or if you want to OC, but there are better choices. If you want to stay in the $50.00 range, the CM Hyper 212+ is better.

no, not a problem per se. even though it does not cover the whole metal integrated heat-spreader of the cpu, it does cover the actual chip which is where most of the action is. its not a top-performing cooler so you are not going to do any aggressive overclocking with it, but the fact that it doesn't cover the IHS fully is not a concern in-and-of itself. I have one on my unlocked 550 at stock clocks which is about as hot as yours and cpu temps are fine.
