I just ordered a retail T-bird 1ghz and Abit KT7.

Other hardware: Elsa Gladiac Geforce2 GTS, Creative SBLive!, Teac CD540E, IBM 75GXP 45gig drive, nic card, modem.

I'm planning to install everything in an Aopen HX08 case.

I don't plan to overclock the processor (not initially anyway ;)) and I'm wondering if the included heatsink and fan is sufficient.

If not, can anyone recommend a better hs/fan? My priorities are:

1) should fit abit kt7 without mod (or capacitor bending!)
2) reasonably quiet
3) reasonably priced (under $30 preferably)

Also, I think the case only includes 1 fan. How many should I add to the case and where should they be installed?

Thanks,

you should get a taisolcgk.
its cheap and cools very good.
as for the case fans, you should have at least two of them. 1 outtake(in back of case) and 1 intake(in the front of the case)

I really think the fan that comes with the 1GHZ T-Bird is enough. I wouln't really worry about it. If it overheats or when you plan to overclock, get a Taisol. I forgot the number but I'm sure MickeWarrior2 will come to the rescue. Or is the retail HSF the taisol?

if you don't plan to OC at all i think you're fine, you wouldn't need an alpha just to run it stock :)

you're not going to need massive cooling from many extra fans either if you're not generating too much heat.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Does anyone know for certain which HS/fan is included with the retail processor? Or does it vary?
