Hrm, strange.. is this normal?

I unlocked my XP 2200+ with conductive silver.. and apparently, all multipliers from >=13 down are unlocked. I've currently got it running at 166@11. But, if I set it to 2200+ default, the system won't post. If I overclock it, or underclock it in the slightest way.. it posts fine. Just not at default. Does this make any sense?

AMD XP 2200+
Abit KX7-333 Rev. 1.1
512MB Crucial PC2100
SB Audigy
ATI Radeon 9700 Pro

The system, prior to the unlock, would of course boot fine @ Default.

I'm running it now @ 166FSB@x11, 1.650VCore, 1.75VDimm

You might need a bios update?? Board specs say compatible with Duron, Athlon and XP (not Thoroughbred). I believe the 2200+ is TB??

Yes, the 2200+ is a Tbred. The mobo is Revision 1.1, which fully supports the 2200+. It worked fine before the OC @ 2200+ default settings.. just not after. Everything else works though, under or overclocking. So long as either the FSB and/or multiplier changes in the slightest way...

Why as why? overclock dat badboy till it hollers uncle! 😀

Oh, I agree wholeheartedly... except, I'd like to make sure there isn't some stupid issue that may be holding back performance as well. 🙂

A-ha.. someone @ oc-forums informed me that when unlocking a chip on a KT333 board you are no longer able to use multi's above 12.5 -- which is fine by me, I was just making sure there was nothing wrong. 🙂

I'm still so tempted to just sell the 2200+ and pick up a 2400+.. those things are looking more and more tempting every review I read.. 2.5Ghz without breaking a sweat. Mmmm. 🙂
