Actually they dont, I just wanted my thread to get more traffic.
According to:
http://www.numbersusa.com/interests/attrition.html
This proposed act does a lot to increase border security.
My opinions:
It seemed like some of their ideas were good, but I noticed something early on in the writing that scared me a little. One of TFF's (Tunnel Task Force) duties is to check for WMD's. Why does that bother me?
The government has gone out of its way to try and make us paranoid about WMD's and I worry any time I see it attached to any piece of government paperwork.
I am afraid it will be used to justify all sorts of horrible actions when the thread of WMD's coming up from tunnels in Mexico isnt really strong.
As far as the other stuff goes: Went a little overboard with the electronic surveillance to the point of becoming Orwellian. (I hate that word but it applies here.)
The whole time I was reading this thing I was reminded of Ben Franklins quote. I believe this act will have a lot of us giving up freedom for many years to come but it may not have much long term or short term benefit for America.
Discuss?
EDIT: There is a big red link in the middle of the page called "CLICK HERE". It has a PDF with a pretty good overview of exactly what the act is asking for. Please read it before you post. Its only 12 pages long, with big text and fat margins. I wll acknowlege right now this web page seems very biased in favor of booting out illegals, however: Their own interpretation of the act makes it seem very Orwellian and "evil-big-brother". They might actually have shared this information with no personal skew.
