Exactly, they will say they won't but they will either after some time or thru a 3rd party.

I wonder if Exxon comes out against voting restrictions if he'll cancel oil.

Yeah, pretty much. His talk of finding ways to compromise with the GOP are totally out of touch with reality, and he knows it. He was there for most of the GOP's constant obstruction during the Obama years. He well knows we aren't going to get any GOP votes for anything, let alone 10.

There is some difference, in that we can use his 50th vote when we have a reconciliation bill, which we did once with the stimulus and will do again with infrastructure.

Where this is hurting us most is with HR1. We desperately need to get some version of it passed and he's totally dicking us over.

Do you think the COVID relief bill was worth having? What about confirmation of judges? And that's just 3 months in.

So I guess if you would prefer neither of those things to happen it makes no difference but millions of people would disagree.

Yes, we do need him, which is frustrating, because he's being a total douche right now. What's with the flip flopping on weakening the filibuster?

He's probably got McConnel in his ears. Maybe there's some committee position or something the Dems can give him...lol.

Can’t even do that because an R would take his place.
I am sure they are saying tell us what big spending project do you want for your state?

I believe the earmarks thing is no longer in effect, which I think is a good thing. Never would have guessed I would say that but shit needs to be lubricated to pass when you are really backed up.

Nah, McConnell has zero leverage over him. What could Mitch give him that would be better than what he has? The answer is clearly... nothing.

He needs to understand that if we don't enact these policies now he will not win his next election no matter how hard he panders to the middle. He barely eeked out his last win as it is. If we get some progressive policies in place this year, the benefits his constituents feel might be enough to overcome the outrage they're fed when they first pass. If he waits until 2023, the benefits will not have enough time to kick in before they throw him on the street, and that assumes the Dems can increase their power in 2022 without these policies, which is a stretch to begin with.
