Was running a 20GB IBM 7200RPM drive on my BE6 with somewhat suspiciously low performance. Upgraded to XP after digging some HPT 366 winXP drivers and It felt lagging. Did a Sandra Benchmark and confirmed that I was going slower than a 4200RPM drive. Needless to say I put it on the UDMA33 Intel controller where I score double.
I also had this problem in some ALI Tualatin motherboard what horrible HDD drivers, I took it back for a TUSL2-C (Inte 815ep based).
Point is the only viable manufacturers of good HDD controllers are SIS, Intel, and possibly VIA. How is VIA?
