Sorry for the wall of text, most of it is unimportant so stop when you like.
OK for those who didn't understand that ^^ when I press letters on my kb (well say 90% of all the letters on the bottom 2 rows some on both sides of the keyboard ie a-s-d-f NOT g-h BUT j-k-l also give multiple responses at once when pressed) it gives multiple responces. ie when I press 's' it might come out as 'sx2'. It's not just letters but NO letters on the top row are affected! q-w-e-r-t-y and so on are all fine! I think most of the other keys are messed up too but I dunno I know 'enter' is messed up, it goes down a row PLUS over one and who knows what else it'll do...
Now there's the problem (plus my trackpad has an odd habit of not working at times, doesn't bother me much I'll tell you why...) but this is what I had done to get around it. a typical USB keyboard works fine with it... it's a little uncomfortable with a 11 inch screen but... it works fine :/
SO I'll also tell you when it came up! Everything was FINE for about 1.5 yrs since purchase (release date mfg E350 laptop DM1z-3010us I think?) but the day I wanted to sell it to my Dad the fan refuses to work- talk about bad luck :/. So anyway I sent it into a shop I'd not used before (not best buy or anything like that a REAL shop) since its a new town. And it comes back and the KB is messed up! Well I plugged in a usb KB and things are fine I got it into the shop again a week later and am told he didn't touch the KB! So he unplugged and plugged the KB in and blew on some things, it didn't work so he suggested I replace the KB. I assume he's not kind enough to pay for it lol since he didn't touch the KB (this HP is very easy to maintainence... it's stilll a laptop though so things are smashed in there). Also I don't know if the KB worked when I sent it in as it wouldn't even start up without a fan!! So anyway I said later and brought it home. I use it occasionally w/ usb KB.
SO about a month later I receive a KB replacement I got off Ebay (straight from Hong Kong) and since he took it apart in front of me and I do my own work on my desktops I decided to do it myself. Only changing the keyboard does not help!! It still won't function correctly.
So that's that I'll clear up the trackpad (non-)issue. When I brought it in the second time the trackpad wasn't working. In fact some times it wouldn't even start up!! It really didn't like the repair shop at all. No seriously, when I brought it home I got the trackpad to NOT work like once or twice and the beeping w/ no startup once. I reset and it starts up! it just didn't like that clean ole' repair shop and prefers my dog hair infested living room I guess. So it's not a problem, I don't use the trackpad anyway instead using a usb trackball.
One more thing. I don't think the fan was installed right. I didn't notice this until a month after bringing it home but after a short session with a demanding facebook game (it is a netbook after all :|) the damn thing was too hot to be on my lap!! It's never done that before! Even right after coming from the shop. Taking it apart (slipping the back cover off) and turning it on for a bit shows that the heatpipe assembly get REALLY friggen hot!! like my stove on low! Not too hot to brush but too hot to touch for any amount of time really. If you know these machines you know they do NOT get hot. Just a slight concern.
I don't want to replace it, it wouldn't be a huge chunk of change, but I'd feel bad. other than the KB (a connection somewhere I'm guessing?? Since the replacement did nothing yet the USB KB works) it works perfectly fine! and I just bought a 99 dollar 120gb SSD for it too :/ SSDs have become dirt cheap. Well not quite dirt cheap but if you won't dropp 99 dollar on one today your a cheap scumbag lol I mean if you don't already have one and want one.
