Could I please get some opinions from those who have used this monitor for gaming, or those who have alternate suggestions? Seems like a pretty good value for high resolution at $670.

I've been recommended the samsung s27a850d. From what I understand the HP should have a pretty thick Anti Glare coating.

It has a RIDICULOUS anti-glare coating.
When I say RIDICULOUS, it's absolutely insane and over the top to hell.

HOWEVER:
This s only a SIGNIFICANT detriment when doing things like web browsing.
When gaming, you can barely notice it.
It's pretty horrible in many ways for general browsing, but for gaming it's plenty fine.

I've only had mine less than a week and haven't been able to play around with it much.
There are some brightness issues with switching between games and desktop (I play BF3 windowed so I can alt-tab quickly. In BF3 it's quite dark, but if I increase the brightness so BF3 looks fine, my desktop is far too bright. My Samsung 2433BW didn't behave in the same way).

I have the 850D now. Yes the screen coating treatment is 10 times better than the IPS Ag coating on most IPS monitors. Its not quite glossy and not quite matte, its a bit of both which makes it great. No grainy dirty feel to the screen everything is clear as day. View angles are not quite as good as IPS, but they are still alot better than TN or MVA. Colors really pop out as well. And for games its great I play BF3 on it. It does have a bit of back light bleed in the bottom corners though. But my understanding is LED monitors will tend to have some. Overall very pleased with the 850D

-have one and love it also
-are you sure the bottom corners are BLB as mine disappear when I move my head [black screen] ,some say that is ips glow.
-the colors in ME2 -ME3 demo are unreal and pop as you said.
-details in ALLEN WAKE are great.
-glad I made the move to high res. vs 120 hz TN
