Not sure if this is smoking hot but looks like the refurbs sell for 399 normally. New 470-800ish

not sure if the old NOTAX code still works

sounds good, but why so many refurbs of this unit everywhere? must have some serious quality issues.

I bought one of these during one of the first batches when it was $350. So far I am completely satisfied. These should all be v2 at this point. I've had it for probably 5 months with no incidents.

This is the best deal imo especially compared to any other 27 1440 IPS.

Displayport
Integrated power supply
Great stand that adjusts (Vesa if you have your own)
1 Year HP business support (As in HP swat team if it goes bad)
Not from Korea
Looks better than the aurias

Get one if you're in the market.

I wonder if a good portion of these have been due to user error. I know on many of the Korean 1440p auctions it states they only work with certain GPU's. I'm not sure if you can just plug one of these into average joes Dell with on board video.

I've seen mention that these do not have a scaler... i.e. they only work at 2560x1440, 1280x720 and 640x480 (according to the TomsHardware review), but also googling, I see some pretty unhappy customers on Amazon complaining about the monitor going crazy for several moments, then **poof** no power.

If the limited resolution options are OK for you, and you aren't worried about the potential hassle of returning the unit for replacement (I'd guess these are units returned with bad power supplies, which were replaced), then this might be an excellent monitor.

For my own displays, I ended up going with Dream Seller on eBay - 2 X-Stars and a RAEANTech, and I'm pretty happy with them so far.
