HP zd8230us Laptop

I just bought a new ASUS WL-126gM wireless card for my laptop. When it first boots up, it gives a 104 error message..... wirless card is not supported. I have the matching ASUS WL-500G Premium router and it is working fine with this factory wireless card. Can someone please help me? Does HP block all aftermarket wirless cards? I tried to upgrade a wireless card in an older HP a long time ago and it gave me the same problems. My bios is the latest from HP website. Thank you for reading this and providing ANY feedback.
