HP ZD7010 CPU and Video

I have the HP Pavilion ZD7010US (2.66Ghz and 440Go 64mb Video) and would like to upgrade it to something else in the 7000 line - my questions are 2 fold:

1. Will the 5600 Go w/128mb ram play Doom3?
2. Is the CPU truly a desktop CPU?

Thanks

The 5600Go will PLAY Doom 3, just probably not as well as you'd like. As far as rankings go I believe the 5600Go is at or slightly above the level of Radeon 9000. Which means you'll probably get playable framerates only at 640x480 at medium or low detail. Anything higher than a Radeon 9000 series (such as the 9600 and 9700), will absolutely blow away the performance of a 5600 (I'm talking minimum of 2x to 3x the performance). Also, I believe the P4 mobile is merely a desktop P4 with speedstep enabled. However, don't quote me on it as I don't personally own a P4 laptop.

I did, and you are pretty close. The 'Mobile' Ps suck a lot of juice. Go for a Centrino or Dothan CPU for notebooks.

The 5600 Gos were a joke, easily getting creamed by ATi's Mobile 9600s, not to mention the 9700s and 9800s. Haven't heard much of anything on the 5650s or the 5700 Gos however since I don't see them shipping in high end notebooks, its safe to assume they probably aren't that great.

I've got the 7030. It has the 5600 and 3.06ht. I don't play Doom but other games run fine. The 3.06ht is a true desktop chip, no speedstep. If battery life is an issue than the upgrades you want
are not recomended. Heck, the entire zd7000 line isn't recomended.
{pulls out lawnchair and waits for the ati, nvidia, athlon, pentium and emachine fanbois to start flamewar}
