Normally I'm pretty good at this stuff but I can't seem to surmount this one; after 25 minutes of playing a DVD it starts to stutter horribly. Stuttering occurs in different programs to include powerdvd and win media player. I played with all sorts of seeints in each to no avail so it doesn't seem like it's a software issue, and once in a while the laptop will jsut up and reboot itself. Naturally, the symptoms led me to think there was a heat issue.
Opened the little sucker up (easier said than done, older models were much easier to get into) took off the heat pipe, found there was minimal thermal grease and one of the fans stopped blowing. Cleaned all the dust out of the unit and the thermal pipe assembly, cleaned off the thermal grease, applied some AS5, got the fan going again (choked on a dust bunny), put it all back together and expected to find my problem resolve. The probelm was not resolved :/ So this is where AT comes in and I hope to heck some can help me as this thing is out of warranty.
