HP Web Jet Admin

I've installed Web Jet Admin to try to monitor the growing # of laser printers we have in my department. However, a couple of B&W Laserjets (a 4000 and a 4050) keep prompting me for an administrative password every time I try to change anything (i.e. save a description, set alerts, etc.) As far as I know, no one has ever set a password on either printer. Does anyone know whether the JetDirect card is prompting me or is the device itself prompting me? Do you think a cold reset would wipe the password? Is there a default password that the printers or their JetDirect cards are using? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I think a cold reset would wipe that out, just make sure you record your tcp/ip info because you will need to reenter that.

you could try using telnet to reach the printer - if it asks for a password, then it's the printer, else it's jetadmin

I decided to do a cold reset, and that wiped the password, but it never occurred to me to try telnet. Thanks again.
