HP TouchPad 16GB - $99.

I thought about it and I am waiting until I hear if people can get Android running on one, then I will try to find one somewhere used..thanks though

Someone in another thread said you can run Ubuntu on it (or someone somehow got it on there), so I have hope for it. Even for $100, it would be an amazing just browsing device.

I just read from Slickdeals that the 32gig one will have $30 off web coupon bring it down to $120. If so, that's smoking!

Exactly. $100 web browsing and book reader tablet. Heck it's cheap just as digital picture frame.

I'm grabbing two.

BestBuy Canada has it for $99 already

$149 for the 32gb model.

NOTE: BOTH ARE OUT OF STOCK

But... this lends credence to the rumor that starting 8/20 (Tomorrow) HP will be clearancing them for $99/$149 respectively.
In stock in-store in some places. In Ontario it's too late because they're closed, but Western Canada may still have some tonite.

No Netflix, but it'd be perfect to take to the pool in a ziplock bag 🙂

I wonder how much Squaretrade would cost for an extended warranty...

Anyone know how many HP produced? This liquidation is going to put some hurt on iPad and Android tablet sales if HP made like a million of these things. I know I'll be out of the tablet market for sometime once I buy these firesale WebOS tablets.

It looks like they made 500,000 of them.

They took 100,000,000 write off, counting units sold, and figuring the what's left sells for $100, we're looking at ~400,000, so I'm thinking they had a 1/2 million production run... ouch

Man I'm gonna stay up late hoping Amazon makes the change tonight, if not I'll see if BB or WalMart have them in the morning.

It's available locally in my area according to their website. I'm trying to convince myself I want one and would go tomorrow to pick one up, but for the life of me I can't figure out what I'd do with it, even for just 100 bucks.

Mind you, I already have 3 laptops and an iPad in my house... for two people. 😛 Plus a bunch of desktops.

It's live already on hp.com if you go through the academic or EPP program. Use SAVE15HP for $15 off, or SAVE30HP for $30 off if you're buying two (or just one 32 gb unit). I ordered two for $195 shipped (damn CA recycling fee).

If Apple, Google, Samsung, etc were smart they would buy up all the WebOS tablets and dump it in a landfill. This firesale along with the upcoming Android Honeycomb firesale beginning of next year is going to hurt Apple iPad sales. Maybe not this quarter, next, or the one after but it's going to happen soon. Apple can bring its A game for iPad 3 but there could be sales disappointment if enough of these discount and firesale tablets get into the hands of people. It changes people's mentality what is fair price and $500 is going to seem expensive.

Yep, already showing up on the EPP site. That's a very very hard deal to turn down.

EDIT: If you can see the EPP deal, try either SAVE30HP or SAVE15HP for a $30 or $15 coupon. The 30 didn't work on the 16GB, but the 15 did and brought it down to 85 bucks. Yea, I can't pass that up.
