HP software freezing computer help.

Have an HP printer connected through the network with ethernet, if I boot the computer with the printer on and connected the computer becomes unresponsive and very very slow. I found that the culprit is hpqtra08.exe, takes 100 percent of the CPU and the computer is extremely slow and unresponsive.

I have fully uninstalled all HP software and have reinstalled it and still the same issue. I have been able to remedy this ending task on this process and deleting it. I tested scanning with HP software and that still works so I'm just wondering what does hpqtra08.exe really do? I think I'll be fine without it, but can someone tell me what it does so I know if I won't need it for anything?

hpqtra08.exe? I keep my HP stuff to the bare minimum. It loads soooo much junk!

PS. Just wanted to add, HP makes an Uninstall tool. It's probably the best software they have! :laugh:

where is the file located at on the pc in question?

also are you running Norton Internet Security?

If the problem goes away with the software uninstalled, it is not likely to be malware.

It is a monitoring app.

Can you get by without this feature?

Try Startup Control Panel from http://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml , if hpqtra08.exe is included in one of the (several registry tabs) tabs, you can toggle the startup.

That HP file is a well known problem and there are several fixes available.
