The VGA connector broke off my friend's new slimline MB. PC has integrated grafx. HP won't cover it. HP (thru BestBuy) wants $1,200.00 to replace MB on this $500 pc. Could this problem be fixed by installing dedicated grafx processor in pci-16 slot, bypassing vga port? If not, has anyone tried replacing a MB on a slimline?
Thanks.

yes it could be fixed by that.

And it makes sense they wont replace it its physical damage which most places will not warranty, since it is generally due to user neglicgence.

Those slim line PCs are all ITX boards, and there are tons of spare motherbaords on ebay for under $50 as well. The reason HP charges $1200 is they really do not keep spare parts for these things so it is always outsourced to the OEMs who built the systems originally who also may have to go through other channels to get the spares.
