Note that the OS is showing Win7 Ultimate 64-bit, but it has HP's tech-support contact info. Also, the mobo is a Gigabyte. Since OEM OSes use SLP to install without keys on the right hardware, how can this be so? Is there a specific HP flash bios for that particular Gigabyte mobo, or is that a pirated Win7 Ultimate, that just happens to be a cracked version of HP's OEM edition, and it's purely coincedental to that computer having an HP case.

Well, somebody has to make the boards..? The other day I saw an HP system on an MSI board as well. (Everest revealed it)

I saw one at Best Buy that had an Asus board. Lid was open and saw the printing on the mainboard.

Just looked at the pics...lack of a backplane makes me think someone tossed that board into that chassis.

I know people who work at some of the HP oems and did in fact work in their factory as a teenager (when it was still in america).

HP currently uses mostly asus, but they do occasionally use gigabyte and msi for production of systems.

A lot of HP systems are fully produced by pegatron the asus spinoff (and this was a lot of the reason for the spinoff in the first place as asus would use the HP and sony order volume, to get bulk discounts on components, then sell them under the retail asus brand competing with their own customers...)

I would figure they use msi and gigabyte for the lower cost, and just to have competitors vs. pegatron for negotiating leverage.

My original pentium 4 from HP had an Asus mobo. All you had to do was flash the bios and you could overclock with it
