HP ScanJet 6200C + Win2k + USB = frustration

I have here an HP ScanJet 6200C scanner. It is hooked up to a Windows 2000 machine via USB. I went to the HP site to download the drivers, and they installed fine. I also downloaded the fix to allow USB communication with the scanner through in Windows 2000. However, the computer still does not detect the scanner either in the Device Manager or in HP PrecisionScan software. I have tried unplugging the device. The USB ports work, because I have a digital camera and a USB flash drive that work fine on the same port and the same machine.

Any additional ideas for me to try?

Thanks in advance!

If this is like every other HP Scanner, it won't be happy until you uninstall the software and install the driver first (w/o having the scanner plugged in) and then run install.

So I should install the fix before I install the actual software?

I never thought of that, but it makes sense. I will give it a try tomorrow. Thanks
