I have a HP pavillion laptop dv9700 with a blu-ray drive. Core 2 Duo, nVidia 8600 (integrated bleah), blu-ray drive, 4 GB.

The laptop will play old blu-rays. Funny term...'old' with blu-ray. Anyway I just bought Star Trek on blu-ray. Quickplay locks itself into a 'check for updates loop.'

Manually checking for updates like the hp help page recommends returns 'no update available.' So even though hp claims 3.7 is the current version...it doesn't exist as far as the updater is concerned.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Try VLC Player if you haven't already. I think the most recent version will play it w/o having to dig through the directory structure of the disk to play specific files. Anyone can confirm this? I know VLC player can play bluray's in the recent earlier versions, but it required digging around the disk to find .mk2v files (some disks use other extensions...).
