HP Proliant N40L + 8gb Hynx ddr3 1333 Mhz Triple Channel Memory no Video

Just purchased the N40L on a price mistake, LOVING IT! Read that this takes ddr3 1066-1333 ECC to which i purchased 1333 mhz triple channel for the 2 Slots because it would revert to dual channel. I did all of my homework to verify and verified that amazon is selling 1333 8gb ECC kits with their n40L purchases. I am absolutely beside myself and am looking for a bit of help.

No beeps.
No Video.

One stick at a time - same no beeps no video
mismatched 2gb with 4gb - Same ^

I will take out the video card and try it with just the board and onboard video
however this card is brand new and no issues 2 weeks prior to using this with a 2gb stick.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Registered memory is not supported.

Mind telling me where you got that information? I looked before purchase as to maybe looking for memory on its compatibility list however there was no list at all.

I appreciate you looking into this.

Assuming that the board is the same as on the N36L, there's no need to buy ECC even; works fine with normal DDR3 and will even let you mix ECC and normal of course then you don't get ECC functionality. I'm also fairly sure it doesn't support registered DIMMs; don't recall why but surely only something specifically states that it supports registered DIMMS the assumption must be that it doesn't.

There are huge threads on those MicroServers in UK forums since HP have been running and extending this £100 cashback thing (effective price ~ £120) for over a year now. Can't recall the exact forum ATM but if you look at the tons of threads on the UK bargain hunters site:
http://www.hotukdeals.com/search?action=search&keywords=microserver
you should be able to find them.

BTW, don't know why people make this fuss about dual channel: aside from APUs like Llano the most you gain from dual channel is 1-2% and in the case of those low power Athlons I doubt you'd get that since they don't need much bandwidth.
