$500 for win7 pro

These seem incredibly cheap for what you are getting. my friends sister needed a new machine and was looking at some $450-470 ish acer and asus consumer machines, but it seemed like the same price for one with a corporate level support and build was a great great deal and ended up getting this.

If you are near a microcenter it is $430 at the B&M stores
http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0388286

It was $400 last month (for their monthly sale.)

-------------------------

Business Machines are much better built and I would recommended them highly over a consumer machine.
***Much better screens (anti-glare instead of glossy, better viewing angle tn).
***Less or No Junkware
***More Durable
***Though they do weight more on average
***Some People will call them ugly, Some people will call them professional looking and thus nice

ah wow. i guess for me TD is a real deal, just because of the tax thing. CA sucks, 8-9% tax + that recycle fee adds another $8

I am not trying to dissuade you or others from ordering form Tigerdirect, just pointing out another retailer has it cheaper, but since it is B&M it is not practical for many people.

Also some people like going and touching before they buy.

oh yeah im not saying thats not a deal either. i wish microcenter was nearer to me haha.

i used to have one i could go to fairly regularly since i was around it a lot in the bay area, but the one where i live now, is an easy 60 miles away.

microcenter is like i have no idea how they can give these kind of deals, even frys stopped doing the free motherboard combo thing so i wonder how long they can keep it up

The only thing giving me pause is it's HP. Failure rate on HP laptops are pretty high. I don't trust HP or Acer laptops. I might stop by Microcenter this weekend to check it out.

While I agree HP consumer laptops are Junk, there business laptops are better built and have less problems than their consumer line.

Agreed, business laptops > consumer laptops

i've never had a probook, but i've had a thinkpad. and assuming the difference in customer support is the same and build difference, for the small premium (At least in this case) totally worth it to get the business one.

i probalby wouldnt get a non business laptop given deals like this ever, unless it was like a $200 netbook

$419 shipped at Newegg right now.

I own that laptop, and it's very nice for the price.

Matte screen with good image quality, very good keyboard, solid build quality.

My main complaint is that the fan is always on and can't be set to spin up as needed in BIOS. Not outrageously loud, but not truly quiet either.

Not much bloatware, but machine does seem to be weighed down by a lot of HP tech support programs such as HP Power assistant (really slows down boot up and shut down until I uninstalled it). HP Support Assistant left in place, so don't know how much it is slowly down machine.

Not a power user, but upgrading to 8 GB did seem to perceptibly speed up machine (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KLDwESwjXc0)

My Dad just bought consumer grade HP G7 and it's plastic casing is very cheap looking in comparison. I did factory restore on that machine and HP recovery partition offered a "minimized image recovery" option, which did not put back the bloatware, and just installed drivers and HP Support Assistant. Not sure if 4350s offers same option, but if it does, it is a very easy way to get clean minimized install (make repair disc first just in case).

I bought mine on sale from Tiger Direct about a year ago for $435 shipped with no rebate. Cheapest I've seen is Tiger Direct eBay store deal of the day for $375 shipped.

Mine is always plugged into electrical outlet, so can't comment on battery life. It is bulkier than it looks so may not be ideal option for someone who is always mobile computing, but HP had to compromise somewhere to meet price point and still deliver it's quality components and build quality.

Overall, very nice machine for the money.

edit #2: HP also offers Linux drivers (http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsuppor...Id=5060880&swLang=13&taskId=135&swEnvOID=2020) for this laptop, and I think (not sure) it has factory option for dual booting Windows and Linux too (?)
