$419 shipped at Newegg right now.
I own that laptop, and it's very nice for the price.
Matte screen with good image quality, very good keyboard, solid build quality.
My main complaint is that the fan is always on and can't be set to spin up as needed in BIOS. Not outrageously loud, but not truly quiet either.
Not much bloatware, but machine does seem to be weighed down by a lot of HP tech support programs such as HP Power assistant (really slows down boot up and shut down until I uninstalled it). HP Support Assistant left in place, so don't know how much it is slowly down machine.
Not a power user, but upgrading to 8 GB did seem to perceptibly speed up machine (

My Dad just bought consumer grade HP G7 and it's plastic casing is very cheap looking in comparison. I did factory restore on that machine and HP recovery partition offered a "minimized image recovery" option, which did not put back the bloatware, and just installed drivers and HP Support Assistant. Not sure if 4350s offers same option, but if it does, it is a very easy way to get clean minimized install (make repair disc first just in case).
I bought mine on sale from Tiger Direct about a year ago for $435 shipped with no rebate. Cheapest I've seen is Tiger Direct eBay store deal of the day for $375 shipped.
Mine is always plugged into electrical outlet, so can't comment on battery life. It is bulkier than it looks so may not be ideal option for someone who is always mobile computing, but HP had to compromise somewhere to meet price point and still deliver it's quality components and build quality.
Overall, very nice machine for the money.

edit #2: HP also offers Linux drivers (
