I have a Deskjet 3650 that uses the HP 27 10mL black cartridge. I noticed that the HP 56 19mL black cartridge has the same connector layout and size as the HP 27, but with 9mL larger capacity.

Can I use the HP 56 in my printer? If so, is there an even larger capacity cartridge available for my printer?

It won't work. Even though the connector layout is the same your, printer will check to see if you are using a 27 cartridge. If it sees a 56 installed instead, it simply will give you an error message and refuse to print. That's the catch with the cheap deskjets. You don't pay a lot for the printer, but they get a lot of money out of you pretty fast with the small capacity 27 cartridges that are only $2 cheaper than the 56.

Thanks for clearing that up!

I refill my cartridges all the time, so it just means I have to refill frequently :(
